Thunderstorms force Andalucia Valderrama Masters into extra day

THUNDERSTORMS have disrupted the Andalucia Valderrama Masters, adding an extra day to the event, meaning Sergio Garcia and his competitors will complete their final round today.
Difficult conditions over the opening three days has already resulted in the third round being cancelled and the competition being reduced to 54 holes.
Host Sergio Garcia, who was also at the top of the leaderboard, only managed to play seven holes before organisers put a stop to proceedings.
Garcia has a lead of three shots heading into today’s action, when he resumes on 10 under par.
His former Ryder Cup team-mate Lee Westwood is leading the charge after the Englishman birdied four of his opening eight holes.
Shane Lowry and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano are tied at six under par, while Mikko Korhonen is a further shot back in fifth.
The course near San Roque, Cadiz was just one of the areas affected by yesterday’s rains in Andalucia.
