MALAGA and the Costa del Sol are on yellow weather alerts today (Monday) for strong winds and high coastal waters. The 112 Andalucia emergency control centre has warned people to ‘protect yourself and take extreme caution on boardwalks and places near the sea.’ Spain’s national Met Office, AEMET, has also included the coastal areas of Granada and Almeria are also on similar alerts although the holiday hotspot of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca escapes the phenomenon. After a generally fine Todos los Santos (All Saints) weekend this week is expected to start with generalised cloud, a lowering of maximum temperatures, an increase in minimum temperatures and heavy rain – particularly in Galicia, Castilla y Leon, Asturias and Cantabria. In the northwest the snow level is from 1,200 metres but could drop to 900 metres with between 5 and 10 cm of snow the Asturias and north of Leon.
