A BRITISH holidaymaker has drowned in a remote cove in the Marina Alta region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca.
Police in Spain announced the discovery of a body that has been identified as a 51-year-old British tourist.
Friends of the deceased man raised the alarm after he failed to return after swimming out to the coves, warning the Guardia Civil that he suffered from asthma.
Javea-based coastguards found the holidaymaker’s body in a remote cove near to Benitatxell, known locally as Cala de los Tiestos.
It is believed the man died snorkelling and his death was a tragic accident
However, Guardia Civil officers will continue their routine investigations to rule out foul play.
