HOLIDAYMAKERS and residents on Spain’s east coast, which includes the popular resort of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca, are in for a real soaking over the coming days. Today (Thursday) the country’s national Met Office, AEMET, has issued an ‘extreme risk’ red alert for torrential rain warning for Valencia. Alicante, Castellon, Girona and Tarragona are on orange alerts while yellow alerts cover Barcelona, Murcia, Mallorca and Menorca. On Friday there are ‘important risk’ orange warnings for more rain in Alicante and Valencia and a yellow alert for Castellon. Saturday will see yellow ‘risk’ alerts for rain Alicante and Valencia again while there is a raft of yellow warnings for high coastal waters in Girona, A Coruna and Pontevedra on the mainland and El Hierro, La Gomera, La Palma and Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
