SPAIN’S national Met Office, AEMET, has issued new, orange weather warnings for traditional hotspots including the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands on Sunday and Monday.
There is also a host of other warnings around virtually the whole of the coast – with Alicante on the Costa Blanca being one of the few areas that escapes (see details below) tomorrow but is on alert on Monday instead.
This autumn has been has been one of the wettest on record with many areas suffering from severe flash flooding including Almeria yesterday and the Serrania de Ronda and Costa del Sol a couple of weeks ago.
That followed the loss of lives after flash flooding that swept through Mallorca.
Sunday’s warnings are for torrential downpours, high coastal water and thunderstorms.
Orange and yellow warnings will remain in place through until Monday. Although things will brighten in the south of the country the Costa Blanca and the Balearic Islands will suffer from worstening conditions.
