DIRECT HIT: Photo and video roundup after torrential rain and thunderstorms strike south of Spain

A HUGE mopping up operation is underway on the Costa del Sol this morning (Monday) after the area and the province of Malaga generally was hit by torrential rain and thunderstorms at the weekend.
Although much of Andalucia in the south of the country was on alert many people were still surprised by the ferocity of the storms.
In Marbella a hotel burst into flames after a direct hit from a lightning bolt and an apartment block in Malaga also received a strike.

The province of Huelva in Andalucia was also hit hard by heavy rain yesterday and the main A-49 was cut between kms 113 and 117 as the road became a lake.
