'SUSPICIOUS': Police in Spain say missing woman's disappearance was ‘not voluntary’

GUARDIA  CIVIL investigators  are treating the disappearance  of San Juan woman, Nuria Ester  Escalante, as suspicious.
The  52-year-old  mother of two  went to Ibiza looking  for work almost a month  ago but has not been seen  since October 31.
Despite  a media blackout  on reporting the case,  the Guardia Civil revealed  that their investigations “originally  went in one direction but are now going  in another.”Everything suggested that Escalante’s  disappearance was not voluntary, sources said The  missing woman’s son, Aaron Berenguer, declared that  he always knew there was nothing voluntary about the  way his mother had vanished.
“I  knew  that because  she’s my mother,”  the 23-year-old explained,  “but now the Guardia Civil  think so too and I hope they  can find out what has happened.”
Escalante,  who had worked  in Ibiza in the  past in hotels and  as a security guard,  was staying at the Ibiza  home of one of her sons’ friends  where she was last seen on October  31.
The  search  for Escalante  began in Sant Antoni,  an area she was familiar  with, and where the Guardia  Civil discovered her luggage, which  she had left with another person, intending  to return for it.
“But  she never  came and it’s  all there still,  even her contact lens  solution, which makes me  think there’s something very  wrong,” Aaron said.
Officers from  the Guardia Civil’s Policia Judicial  criminal investigation unit based in Mallorca  have now gone out to Ibiza, looking for clues  that can shed light on the disappearance.
