A LOCAL cat association based in San Vicente del Raspeig on the Costa Blanca has found nine of its cats dead in its shelter.
According to reports, the deceased cats were found by volunteers of the Felines de la Morant association and it’s understood that they had all died from blows to their bodies.
A representative from the group said that “it looks as if they’ve all been hit in the chest with something like a baseball bat or similar or even steel-capped boots.”
The incident at the enclosure – that takes care of around 50 animals – has been reported to the Local Police and an unknown person has put up an award of €1,000 for information that leads to the perpetrator being caught.
In addition to killing the nine cats, there was also a significant amount of damage done to the shelter which is located in the countryside with few living nearby.
