THE European Court of Justice has ruled this morning (Monday) that the UK can revoke Article 50 and cease Brexit. The ruling means Britain can halt their withdrawal from the European Union without the permission of the other EU member states. This judgement by the European Court of Justice confirms in an official capacity last weeks statement from the Advocate General of the European Court of Justice, Manuel Campos Sanchez-Bordona, who stated the ‘unilateral revocation of the notification of the intention to withdraw from the EU’ was permitted by European law.’ Pro-remain activists claim today’s ruling has ‘electrified’ calls for a second EU referendum. However, Leave campaigners have warned overturning Brexit would have “catastrophic” consequences for the UK.
