FLIGHT MAYHEM: ALL flights to and from London Gatwick CANCELLED due to emergency situation

LONDON GATWICK airport has closed all of its runways since yesterday (Wednesday) evening due to the presence of drones flying over the airport’s airspace.
The incident is still on-going, with the airport yet to re-open its runways as of 11:27am.
Gatwick airport is the second most important airport in Britain, due to the closure of the airspace several flights scheduled to land have been diverted to other European cities like Paris and Amsterdam causing widespread disruption.
The cancellations come during the airport’s Christmas period, one of the busiest seasons in Gatwick’s calendar.
Authorities are investigating the presence of the drones and no plans to resume normal service have been stated as of yet.
The airport said on Twitter: “We will update when we have adequate security that it is appropriate to reopen the runway.”
Reports have emerged of numerous passengers being forced to remain on their plane for waiting times of up to two hours before being updated on the situation unfolding.
One passenger wrote on Twitter: “I was stuck for more than an hour after landing in Luton, instead of in Gatwick, the crew told us that all the airports to the south are at their maximum capacity, I do not know how we are going to get home. about future flights.”
92 drone incidents were recorded last year according to British authorities and the airport maintains the safety of all their passengers and staff is their number one priority.
