POLICE in Rincon de la Victoria have seized replica rifles from a group posing as guerrilla fighters. Officers confiscated five replica assault rifles from a group in Torre de Benagalbon after receiving reports of around twenty people dressed in military clothing near the Santillan stream. The gang were allegedly wearing bulletproof vests and carrying what looked like firearms, causing police to scramble to the area. Officers soon discovered the group were playing a game, and, ‘practising guerrilla tactics,’ using ‘Air Soft’ replica weapons. Police seized the weapons after discovering the group did not carry a licence or have proof of ownership. The replica rifles are now locked up in police facilities. Rincon de la Victoria’s mayor, Francisco Salado, praised, “the rapid action of the officers who confiscated all the weapons mentioned.”
