ANIMAL RIGHTS activists are set to take to the streets of Marbella this Saturday 12 in protest against over concerns that bullfights could be about to return to the city.
Members of Gladiators for Peace, Animal Resistance and the Malaga Society for the Protection of Animals are set to begin their rally at around 5pm outside the city’s bullring.
It comes as Marbella City Council announced plans to renovate the derelict bullring at a cost of more than €1 million.
There are plans to use the venue for concerts and events including bullfighting.
Patricia Lara, head of the Animal Resistance Malaga group, said: “It has been almost four years since a bullfight was held in Marbella and we are not willing allow the return of the public execution of animals here.”
Bullfighting stopped in Marbella in 2015.
