A British man is missing after heading out on a motorboat from Lanzarote’s Marina Rubicon port, which later burst into flames on Friday 4.
According to the Security and Emergencies Consortium, members of the fire brigade, Maritime Rescue, Guardia Civil and Emerlan proceeded to extinguish the fire.
Emergency services found an empty vessel after activating a rescue operation, although a man’s wallet with identification was recovered in the sea close to the boat.
The identity of the missing man has not been released but his partner has confirmed that the wallet is his.
She also stated that the missing man had left the Marina Rubicon port in Playa Blanca alone at approximately 7.30am.
Guardia Civil divers and a Maritime Rescue helicopter have helped with the search, they also recorded a video of the boat near the Pechiguera Lighthouse showing bright flames and clouds of smoke rising from the boat.
Emergency services are still looking for the occupant of the vessel.
