NEW ROAD: Alfaz mayor and councillors discussing plans Photo credit: Alfaz town hall
THE planned road connecting the N-332 and the CV-753 will decongest the roundabout at the turning for Albir. Once this is built between the main road and the Magic Robin Hood centre on the CV-753 (the Old Altea Road), traffic at this notorious crossroads controlled by traffic lights will diminish by 10 per cent, according to a study carried out for Alfaz town hall. At present between 2,500 and 3,000 vehicles an hour use this roundabout, of which 64 per cent are driving south. Twenty-two per cent are heading north and 14 per cent of the vehicles are entering or leaving Alfaz. “This road will allow us to reduce the number of cars using the section between the roundabout and the intersection with Avenida de l’Albir,” said Alfaz mayor Vicente Arques, “This in turn will improve connections between the centre of Alfaz and the coastal area,” he added. Work on the new €833,000 road should start during the first three months of this year.
