HOMICIDE: Husband of Romina Celeste says he ‘threw her remains into the sea’ in Lanzarote

ROMINA Celeste Nuñez’s husband Raul DC has been remanded in custody by Arrecife’s (Lanzarote) Court of Instruction while the investigation into her death is carried out.

The Court Number 1 is responsible for managing crimes of sexist violence in Lanzarote, but the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has not yet decided if the Arrecife team should take over the case.

The young girl’s husband was under heavy surveillance as of the moment Romina (29), was reported missing, a week after she is believed to have been killed.

He was arrested after a phone conversation in which he spoke with a family member, confessing what he had done with Romina’s body.

In his police statement, Raul DC, claimed that he did not kill his wife, who had a four-year-old son in Paraguay, but had found her dead after returning to the family home in the early hours of the New Year.

The ‘main suspect’ claims he was under the influence of drugs when he considered that the best option was to dispose of the Romina’s corpse.

Meanwhile, the Guardia Civil has proceeded to search the couple’s home, in Costa Teguise, for a second day and also the rented vehicle used by the detainee.

The search for Romina’s body continues in hopes of finding her remains that Raul DC claims to have ‘thrown into the sea’.
