THE boss of Puerto Banus, Marbella, based nightclub chain Lineker’s Group SL has died in a hail of bullets.

The 49-year-old Marbella night club entrepreneur looks to be the latest victim of a ‘settling of scores’ murders that have struck the Costa del Sol city in the past few months.

Named by police only as Marco, a Spanish businessman of Moroccan origin, the victim owned at least five nightclubs in Puerto Banús, including bars, restaurants and discotheques. He was shot while sitting in his luxurious Bentley at 3.30am this morning (Monday).

The shooting happened in the southern part of San Pedro Alcántara, the most sought-after area in that district and one of the most expensive in Marbella, halfway between Puerto Banús and the luxurious Guadalmina development.

As he pulled into the garage of his home the victim was confronted by a hitman who opened fire, shooting Marco 12 times. In total more than 20 shots were fired.

The assassin then made his escape down the quiet and dark streets of the Las Petunias Urbanization.

A family member rang emergency services, and National Police were quickly on the scene.

Linekers nightclub, which Marco owned, was originally started by Wayne Lineker, brother of former England footballer Gary.

It is now part of the Linekers Group which includes famous nightclub Tibu, Tibu restaurant, Babilonia and Bijou, amongst others
