A COMEDY featuring actors with mental disabilities has taken home the top prize at Spain’s Goya film awards.

Movie Campeones (Champions) won best picture at the gala in Sevilla, while thriller El Reino (The Kingdom) took home seven other awards.

The best new actor award went to Campeones’ actor, Jesus Vidal, who has a visual disability.  He told the audience:  “You have recognised an actor with a disability.” Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, praised the win, describing Vidal’s speech as, “unforgettable.”
