POLICE officers investigating the tragic discovery of the body of a newborn baby in a dustbin in a Madrid district have announced that the baby was born alive.
The gruesome discovery was made on Saturday afternoon by a homeless Romanian national rummaging through the public waste bin located on calle Laguna in the Carabanchel area of the city.
The man saw what looked like the body of a baby inside a plastic bag and so the police were called and responded immediately, accompanied by a paramedic unit who confirmed that the child was dead.
The subsequent post mortem confirmed that the baby was born alive, and not in a hospital, and so an investigation is now underway to locate the mother as a suspect of murder.
