A €7 MILLION Russian freighter remains in Motril Port after being abandoned by its owners when their company went bust last September.

A small number of crew have remained on board the ship during this time, fearing they will lose their right to pay if they leave.

The vessel has reportedly not paid port fees in five months, allowing the marina to put it up for auction, as it can with any ship not paying its fees for more than three months.

The money raised from the sale of the ship and its cargo- salt- which is valued at €600,000, will reportedly go towards paying port fees, crew and traders, while the rest is expected to go to the Spanish government.
