Babysitter accused of abusing three-year-old child on the Costa Blanca

PROSECUTORS in Valencia are asking for 10 years in prison for a woman accused of abusing a child under three.

The 33-year-old Algerian carer is accused of inserting her finger into the child’s anus for misbehaving.

The incident allegedly took place in October 2016 as the accused looked after the victim, also of Algerian nationality, while their mother was at work. The suspect, who does not hold a criminal record, reportedly committed the crime at an address on Carrer Fontilles de Valencia.

According to prosecutors, the defendant carried out the sexual abuse on at least one occasion. The child allegedly told its mother about the incident a few days afterwards, and was later diagnosed with a slight anal fissure.

In addition to a custodial sentence of 10 years and nine months, prosecutors are seeking a €2,000 fine and a ban on coming within 500 metres of the child for eight years.
