DAYS after a young mother was arrested in Malaga city for allegedly trying to drop her baby out of a window, another woman has been accused of trying to throw her child into a ditch in Axarquia.
The alleged incident took place in Velez-Malaga when a 33-year-old woman is said to have tried to toss her 15-day-old baby into a gulley on the side of a road next to the El Ingenio shopping centre.
Members of the Local Police said they intervened at around 5.45 pm yesterday (Thursday) after noticing several people arguing under a bridge on the main road. Officers claimed the baby’s parents, as well as the mother’s own stepfather and mother were seen arguing while they stood with the new born and a nine-year-old girl, the suspect’s other child.
Police said the group were seen walking along normally together before the accused turned to her partner with, ‘an aggressive attitude,’ and the boyfriend called on the woman’s parents to intervene.
Her parents reportedly later told police their daughter had held her baby by the feet and tried to throw her it into a ditch with water running through it.
Police said: ‘The grandparents of the baby, upon arrival, managed to prevent this and then officers arrived to take control of the situation and take the young mother in custody.’
Officers said the woman had, ‘previously attended,’ the Axarquia Regional Hospital.
