EMERGENCY SERVICES took a 23-year-old man to hospital on Sunday after rescuing him from a ravine he fell down while walking in the Istan area.
Guardia Civil and Local Police officers, firefighters, medical personnel and Civil Protection volunteers were sent to the Arroyo de las Piedras area after being called out at 3pm.
A passerby found the 23-year-old lying at the bottom of the ravine unable to get out on his own. He had injured his ankle and head in the fall, emergency services said.
Guardia Civil and fire brigade mountain rescuers lifted the man out of the ravine on a stretcher before then putting him in a helicopter and airlifting him to an ambulance.
The helicopter had difficultly landing due to the weather and location. It landed nearby to where he fell before taking to 23-year-old to Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella.
