More than 100 properties evacuated after blaze sweeps through garages in Spain

EMERGENCY services evacuated 114 commercial premises and apartments following a fire in the garage area of an apartment block in Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

Two streets, the 6 de diciembre and Baltasar Nuñez, were closed to traffic as firefighters tackled the blaze in the Edificio Bucare.

Once the flames were extinguished a police investigation began into the cause of the fire.

Neighbours were allowed back to their properties once the building had been ventilated.
