ATTRACTING new tourists from 11 different European countries is the aim of a new Almeria Provincial Council initiative aimed at boosting international visitor numbers.
The council has put out to tender the €440,000 contract to run the May to November campaign aimed at the British, Scandinavian, eastern European, Dutch and Portuguese markets.
Provincial Tourism Delegate Fernando Gimenez explained the company putting in the successful bid will have to promote the province as a holiday destination in the 11 countries, with actions orientated to each specific market. The company will also have to organise excursions and guided visits around different parts of the coast and inland areas.
The delegate said the campaign would contribute toward breaking the seasonal nature of tourism in the province and encourage visitors to see Almeria as a year-round destination.
