Police shot out the car tyres when the driver failed to stop at the road block on the A-226 and smashed into officers – injuring five – near Teruel at 9am, yesterday (Sunday).
The high-speed chase had started 27-miles away before the incident came to a dramatic end with armed officers swarming around the car and hauling the driver from the car which ended up in a ditch.
The young man, from Barcelona, was charged with resisting arrest and failing to stop at when ordered to by police. He will also face drug charges once the type and quantity of substances has been determined by blood tests.
All the injured police officers were treated at the nearby Hospital Obispo Polanco.
