DIED: The woman passenger was flying from London Gatwick to Malaga-Costa del Sol
A WOMAN has died of a suspected heart attack while on a flight from Gatwick Airport in London to Malaga.
Staff on the easyJet flight asked if any doctors were on board after the woman began breathing heavily, according to a passenger.
The passenger told Spanish media the woman, thought to be aged between 60 and 70, looked ill and sat with her mouth wide open.
A passenger sitting next to her told cabin crew that she needed medical attention.
Two doctors on board the flight were able to care for her before the plane landed at 8.35pm.
Emergency services personnel boarded the plane and began performing CPR for more than 20 minutes, according to a passenger.
She was taken to hospital and passengers waited a further hour before getting off the plane. A post-mortem is set to take place to confirm the cause of death.
