SPAIN’S central government has launched a unit to counteract misinformation and cyber threats ahead of April and May’s local elections.
Experts from the Department of National Security and State Secretariat of Communication will work alongside other government departments to protect the elections.
The unit was created following warnings from the European Union about the potential for false information online being used to influence electoral results.
