VIDEO: Dozens killed and 640 injured, 32 critically, in huge pesticide factory blast

A HUGE explosion has ripped through a chemical factory manufacturing pesticides in Yancheng, a coastal city in eastern China.

Officials say the death toll has risen to 47 with more than 640 reported injured according to a local newspaper.

There are reports of 32 critically injured people and 58 in a serious condition who have been transferred to 16 hospitals in the area. It is believed that children from a nearby nursery are among the casualties.

The fire at the Tianjiayi Chemical Co plant has been extinguished and China’s President Xi Jinping Fri has demanded all-out efforts to rescue victims adding environment monitoring and an early warning system should be strengthened to prevent environmental pollution and secondary disasters.
