SPAIN’S Costa Blanca was rocked by a second earthquake in a week last night (Thursday) at 8.36 pm local time prompting calls to the 112 emergency services control centre.
The magnitude 3.1 quake was recorded at a depth of just 4km in the Mediterranean Sea just off the coast of Torrevieja – an area popular with expats and holidaymakers.
Last night’s earthquake was felt across a wide area with calls to the emergency services from Alicante (13), Santa Pola (5), Torrevieja (4) Elche (3), El Campello (2), Elda (2), Gandia and San Juan (both one).
There are no reports of personal injury or material damage however.
It comes just a few days after another quake, with a magnitude of 4.0, was registered in the area on Sunday.
