ELEVEN under-age boys were detained in Tarragona after allegedly sexually assaulting another minor.
The attack occurred in the Les Granotes park adjoining the Roman amphitheatre, one of the city’s most-visited monuments.
According to online publication Porta Enrera they are young migrants who live in a young people’s centre in Tarragona’s Old Quarter.
One of the boys has been referred to the Public Prosecutor for Juvenile Offences but the other 10 were freed after making a statement.
The Catalan police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra, confirmed that an assault had occurred but declined to give more information.
Porta Enrera claimed that the boys abused the girl after she had been drinking and that she reported the assault herself.
