TAKING OFF: Ryanair and easyJet operating more summer season routes to Malaga-Costa del Sol airport

MALAGA-COSTA DEL SOL airport has kicked off the start of the peak season with  eight new international routes.

Budget Irish airline Ryanair is offering new summer routes from London Southend to the south coast of Spain with ten flights a week, and four flights a week from Exeter. The carrier is also operating new routes to Naples in Italy and Tetouan in Morocco.

easyJet is also operating a new route from the Costa del Sol airport to Porto in neighbouring Portugal four times a week.

Airport operator Aena has said that Norwegian, Laudamotion, Volotea and Vueling have also launched new routes that will link the Costa del Sol with Billund, Stuttgart, Nice and La Coruña.

Aena announced in a statement: “The Malaga-Costa del Sol airport during this summer season will see fifty airlines operating that will connect with 133 destinations through 235 routes, 22 of them new.

“Airlines are offering 7.1 per cent more seats than in the same season last year, to make 16 million seats. The volume of scheduled flights for this period, between March 31 and October 26 will also grow by 5.8 per cent.”
