WATCH: BOLT FROM THE BLUE – Tourists ‘could smell burning’ after mountain-top lightning strike in Spain

A COUPLE of tourists hiking on a mountain top in Spain had a lucky escape after a bolt of lightning struck just inches away from where they were standing.

The pair were knocked off their feet and fell the ground at the 5,600 ft peak of Montseny Massif in the north of Spain after a hailstorm had surrounded them.

Marcel and Magda Gallardo were stood in front of a cross when the ligtning bolt struck from out of the blue.

Remarkably they were both unhurt and didn’t realise what had happened until they watched the video back afterwards at home.

Family members have joked that the lucky couple should buy a lottery ticket this week.
