AN 83-year-old’s mummified body was found last Thursday by the National Police after having received a report from the woman’s niece.
The woman’s corpse was found in La Guindalera area belonging to Madrid’s Salamanca district.
Results obtained from the post-mortem revealed that she passed away in early 2014 and that her death may have been caused by a stroke.
According to Spanish press, some neighbours had considered calling the police after she had piled up a debt of thousands for community fees. Also, the doorman had stored dozens of the woman’s letters that had been accumulating in the mailbox.
However, the police were never notified as some thought that the woman may have left as she owned a house abroad.
Her niece was the only person who notified the police as she hadn’t heard from her aunt in a long time.
