SRI LANKA TERRORIST ATTACK: Young Galician couple first confirmed victims from Spain

JUAN Manual Vidal, mayor of the Pontevedra town of Pontecesures, confirmed the death of a couple from Galicia, aged 31 and 32, in the chain of terrorist attacks in several churches and luxury hotels in Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The councillor added that the young woman lived just 500 meters from the councillor´s house, and has called for a meeting of municipal spokespersons yesterday and today (Tuesday) which decrees official mourning for several days

Both were on vacation in Sri Lanka and the young woman had gone to meet her boyfriend who worked in India.

Among those killed in the attacks are Spaniards, Danish, Australians, Americans, Chinese, Turkish, British and Indians. The Sri Lankan government has blamed the local terrorist organisation ´National Thowheeth Jamath´ for the attacks

Security forces will help in reparation of churches immediately. The families of the deceased will reportedly receive about €5,000 euros (1 million rupees) while the wounded will receive between €500 and €1,500 (100,000 to 300,000 rupees).
