TRIBUTES have been paid to an Irishman Phillip Dunlop who died in Spain on his way to the airport.
Philip from Bangor fell ill nine days after walking the 252 km Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail with his friend Kevin from Porto, Portugal to Santiago.
Wife Joan flew to Santiago to take her husband back to his homeland.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook she said: ¨I am totally devastated and shocked as Phillip my amazing husband, best friend, my wingman, soul mate, mine and the kids whole life.’
In a second post on Facebook, she thanked people for their generosity, support and condolences, as €10,585 (£10,000 goal) was raised on a GofundMe to cover funeral costs, family´s travel and accommodation.
