GUARDAMAR: Severely hit by the Easter storms.
IT IS estimated that repairs in the aftermath of the structural damage caused by the Easter storms up and down the coast could be as high as €350,000 euros, according to the Provincial Coast Service.
The relevant authorities have been urged to carry out immediate emergency works. One body has been tasked to assess the feasibility of carrying out “sand transfers” in order to return the beaches back to their original state.
The areas of Torrevieja, Guardamar and Orihuela were among the worst affected.
Inspections revealed the majority of the physical damage affected the “urban furniture and tourist infrastructures”. Additionally, hundreds of tonnes of sand were displaced by runoff from ravines.
It is understood that the repair costs are shared between the State and the respective city councils.
