FACEBOOK: Blocking freedom of speech or halting hate talk? Photo: Shutterstock
FACEBOOK has banned Alex Jones and Louis Farrakhan from its site for violating hate policy.
The social media giant said: “We’ve always banned individuals or organisations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology.”
The pair, who the company claims hold views which violate its code of conduct, have also been banned from Instagram, while Mr Jones’ far-right politics site, Infowars, was also removed.
Facebook explained: “The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”
Mr Jones took to Infowars to protest his innocence. He said: “They didn’t just ban me. They just defamed us. Why did Zuckerberg even do this?”
