KNITTED KNOCKERS: Sam Campbell and Maria Bailey - Sam Campbell with EWN hamper winner Ruth Forder (inset).
THE regions’ business community has lent its support to one of the region’s much-loved charities, Knitted Knockers Costas del Sol.
Sam Campbell, founder of networking organisation Business 1st, organised a charity dinner and raffle in aid of the charity which makes soft, comfortable, knit prosthetics for breast cancer survivors, free of charge.
And today she presented Maria Bailey, who set up the Costa del Sol branch of Knitted Knockers, with a cheque for €411, the proceeds of the event held at Sai Indian Restaurant on Friday.
Sam told Euro Weekly News – which donated a hamper full of products aimed specifically at women who have undergone surgery – that the four-year-old organisation has been championing Knitted Knockers for two years.
She said: “It is such a wonderful charity which does fantastic work. I feel very lucky to be in the position to help support local causes.”
Maria, who was present at the fund raiser, explained the importance of such support.
“It is amazing the support we receive. We don’t have to ask, people are coming to us to help and it’s very humbling.
“We just do what we do and it’s great that we do not have to keep looking at the coffers to see if we can carry on at the moment.
“Thank you so much to Sam and everybody who helped raise the money.”
