Parents jailed for 10 years for sexually abusing three-month-old baby in Spain

TWO parents in Valladolid have been jailed for 10 years and one day for abusing their three-month-old baby in August 2017.

The couple received their sentencing after prosecutors initially requested 14 years each for crimes of sexual abuse and using the child to make pornographic material.

A medical examination of the child also showed she had suffered from cocaine poisoning.

The trial, held behind closed doors, saw testimony from two National Police officers who had arrested the couple as well as a member of the Police Brigade. 

A scientist who was able to find footage of the abuse on the couple’s phone also appeared as a witness.

In addition to their prison sentences, the parents are prevented from contacting the girl for 19 years, as well as being disqualified from working with children for 15 years.

They have also lost custody of the child and will both have to participate in sex education programmes. The couple must also pay the girl €20,000 in compensation.
