Body of the missing Welsh expat found. Glyn Jones (L), suffered from dementia and had been missing since Sunday.
THE body of Glyn Jones, the 83-year-old Welshman who disappeared in Mijas, has been found.
More than 50 people from the Guardia Civil, Civil Protection volunteers from Mijas, Torremolinos and Fuengirola, fire fighters and the 112 Emergency Coordination Centre joined the search for the pensioner who had been missing since Sunday.
They were combing the countryside in five areas around Mijas Pueblo (Malaga) when they found Mr Jones. He was lying in a ravine near the A-387 (Coin road above Mijas) at kilometre 15.5 late yesterday (May 23) afternoon.
On Monday, Civil Protection of Mijas informed the 112 coordination centre of the disappearance of the man who had last been seen on Sunday, May 19 in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña. The Guardia Civil activated a search programme to try to find Mr Jones.
An advanced command post was set up near Mijas cemetery on Monday, which coordinated the search over the next few days.
Mr Jones, who had dementia and had recently started to get confused, was a well-known and popular figure around Mijas, where he had lived with his wife Barbara for the past 15 years in a property just opposite the town hall.
