Alleged drug driver responsible for Guardia Civil death arrested in Jerez, Spain

THE driver was travelling in a white Peugeot with French plates and had been asked to stop but failed to comply. The detained fled fled the scene, reportedly due to the fact car was loaded with marijuana.

During the chase, the deceased officer Fermín Cabezas González lost control of his motorcycle on a busy stretch of the A-7 at Los Barrios and was involved in a multiple collision.

Guardia Civil officers made the arrest after the suspect fled to the mountains around Jerez, but was picked up by officers in the Las Pachecas area close to the Sale Durán.

A second arrest has also been made due to the involvement of a second car, a black minibus, that is suspected of acing as a support vehicle to the alleged drug trafficking.

The fatally injured was reportedly married and the father of a 10-year-old boy. He was assigned to the Command of Algeciras de la Benemérita.
