GUILTY: Russian woman found guilty of murdering her husband whilst saying it was a dog attack

A RUSSIAN woman has been found guilty of murdering her 70-year-old German husband in Mallorca
Svetlana B, 48, is said to have cut Horst Hans Henkels’s arm several times causing him to bleed to death at their Cala Millor home in 2016.
The woman had maintained her innocence throughout the trial, saying the fatal incident was a dog attack. But forensic specialists told the jury that “dogs don’t use knives.”
Prosecutor Gonzalo Sans, who initially requested a 25-year prison sentence, lowered the request to 14 years in jail after the jury decided that Svetlana B had not, as had been alleged, fed pieces of her husband to the dogs in order to provoke them into attacking him.
They derided that the dogs had bitten the victim when he was already dead.
The convicted woman, in her final plea during the trial, proclaimed her innocence in a dramatic testimony before the jury saying “I am very human,” and stressing that she tried to take her own life after the death of her husband.
The prosecutor claims that she killed her husband in order to take control of his assets.
