Volunteers and two of the officers involved Credit: National Police
BETWEEN July 5 and 8, officers of the National Police in Sevilla helped to distribute food for the needy weighing 48,000 kilos.
The distribution of this food, which is undertaken on an annual basis, is organised by local residents. They belong to the Tres Barrios Association in the east of the city using funds partly supplied by the European Union.
In the past, the bulk transportation of the food was carried out using a lorry borrowed from the Red Cross, but on this occasion as the driver had retired. The Association asked whether the National Police in the area would be able to assist.
Officers indicated that they were happy to do so as part of their support for the local community and spent four days arranging for the movement of the food.
