Queen Letizia presents the mayor of Antequera with awards
AT a ceremony in Ciudad Real, Queen Letizia presented the mayor of Antequera Manuel Barón an award which recognises the work of the town to improve the quality of life of disabled people.
Antequera was one of several municipalities of different sizes which were recognised in the ceremony of presentation of The Queen Letizia 2018 Awards.
The Queen is honorary president of the Council of the Royal Board on Disability whose purpose is to promote the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities, social inclusion, equal opportunities and the rehabilitation and prevention of disabilities.
Other awards were made to Murcia capital and Medina de Rioseco in Spain as well as towns Chile and Guatemala.
The supermarket chain Carrefour was also recognised for the commitment it has to encouraging the employment of those with disabilities.
