A BUNGLING burglar was left looking for one legged people to sell his ill-gotten gains to when he stole 66 shoes that were all for the same foot.
A court has heard that the man smashed a window of a shoe shop and hastily grabbed as much merchandise as he could carry before making his escape.
He must have been left hopping mad when he got home to find the market for his loot was going to be severely restricted.
It wasn’t long before he was tracked down by police and brought to heel. He will now be doing some soul searching too, with the prosecutor asking the Provincial Court of A Coruña (Galicia) to imprison him for four years and nine months.
Compensation is also being asked for. The value of the stolen shoes was €3,023 – at least to the shop. They were worthless to the thief. That is the sum – plus €238 for damage caused – that the prosecutor wants the man to pay.
It was not stated in court whether they were left or right foot shoes that were stolen.
