Woman dies in Spanish fireworks tragedy

A WOMAN, aged 56, has died after being hit by a firework rocket at a religious procession at 8.29pm last night (July 13). 

She was spectating at the event in the town of Viso del Marqués (Ciudad Real) when the tragedy occurred. 

There had been a procession in honour of San Cristobal when the concluding fireworks display in front of the local church, went wrong. 

According to reports one of the rockets flew out of control and struck the victim. 

A man who fired the rocket has been released after being questioned about the possibility of a crime of involuntary homicide.
