THE HEAT and the summer sun require special consideration when determining your beauty regime. Here is some advice to make sure you stay looking your best and indeed remain healthy during the heat of the day:

  1. Use a high quality sunscreen and you should normally go for a Protection factor of at least 30, preferably 50, Apply the sunscreen at least 30 minutes before you go out in the sun, so that it has time to soak into your skin.
  2. The strong summer sun can also harm your hair. The hot and humid conditions can cause your scalp to sweat. Shampooing daily can be harmful. The best way to protect your hair is to use a protective hair mask at least once a week.
  3. Along with a protective hair mask, you should also invest in hairspray. Hair tends to become frizzy and unruly in summer and the best way to keep your hair looking fresh and shiny is to use hairspray.

  9. Make sure you stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and avoid excess alcohol. This should be an essential part of your health and Beauty regime at any time of year but obviously is even more important in the heat.
