RESPECT: Berja council offered its condolences to the 49-year old’s friends and family.
ONE workman died and another suffered minor injuries when the roof of a building undergoing reforms in Berja collapsed on Tuesday evening. Three of the labourers working on the three-storey structure managed to make it out on their own and alert the emergencies services that their 49-year colleague was trapped under rubble, according to Spanish media. The fire service recovered his body a couple of hours later, Spanish press reported. Today, Wednesday, Berja Council staged a one-minute silence at midday in front of the Town Hall in memory of the accident victim. The council offered its condolences to the 49-year old’s friends and family. The Guardia Civil has activated the judicial protocol for initiating an investigating to determine the cause of the roof collapse.
