THE deceased woman was reported missing on Wednesday (July 17) after she failed to return a hire car.
Guardia Civil officers investigated the report and on searching the woman’s property found her buried very close to her home in the Algar region of Cadiz.
After a short investigation, officers arrested a 45-year-old, locally described as a “handyman” who had previously done work on the woman’s property.
According to sources the woman had moved to the small picturesque village with her husband but he passed away several years ago.
A spokesman for the Guardia said, “I can confirm a body has been discovered in the immediate vicinity of a property in Algar.” “As a result of the discovery officers from an investigations unit in Cadiz have arrested a local man who will appear in court shortly.”
Algar mayor Juan Manuel Guerrahas announced that the village will hold a day of mourning for the woman.
