SAUDI Arabian millionaire Turki Al-Sheikh is the new boss of UD Almeria football club.
The former Saudi Minister for Sport has officially taken over from businessman Alfonso Garcia as the red and white’s largest shareholder after signing a €20 million deal in a notary in Almeria city at midday on Friday, a further €5-7 million going to pay off the club’s debt, according to Spanish media reports.
The 38-year old advisor to the Saudi Royal Court is aiming to turn the Almeria side into a force to be reckoned with in the national leagues and internationally, Spanish press reported.
Turki Al-Sheikh is the club’s third owner since it was founded in 1989. Alfonso Garcia was UD Almeria president for 16 years, having acquired a majority stake in the club in July 2003.
